To Refuse to Kill Is Threatening to Every State — An Article in Ställ om! Magazine

Ställ om!, a Swedish digital magazine focused on peace and climate justice, published an article which calls for support for Belarusian and Russian conscientious objectors in Lithuania. They face deportation and imprisonment for refusing military service.

It also presents a fundraising calendar dedicated to twelve conscientious objectors. The calendar aims to make their courage visible and to raise funds for legal and humanitarian assistance.

In Lithuania today, Belarusian and Russian conscientious objectors are regarded as a threat to national security and are deported back, where they are very likely to end up in prison. There are already conscientious objectors who have ended up in prison in Belarus in this way. We want to protect these brave men who have refused to take up arms and join the Belarusian or Russian army, because they are now in danger and under strong pressure.

We are launching a support campaign for a new calendar dedicated to twelve Belarusian and Russian conscientious objectors — people who have refused to take part in the war and have faced very harsh consequences for this choice. Today, all of them are at risk of being sent back to Belarus or Russia and imprisoned for refusing to perform military service.

The proceeds will be used exclusively to cover printing costs and to fund legal and humanitarian support to protect persecuted conscientious objectors. The calendar makes it possible to give real visibility to these courageous acts and to provide direct support to those who continue to be persecuted for their decision of conscience.
