A Day of Joy: Let 30 Belarusian Refugee Children Splash, Laugh, and Heal

November 4, 2025 · Ongoing campaign

When we asked the Belarusian refugee children in our care what would be the best gift they could imagine this year, their answer was immediate and unanimous: “A day in the water park — all together!”

For most of these children, laughter and play have become rare. They fled Belarus with their families, escaping repression, fear, and often trauma. Many haven’t experienced a carefree day for years. Now they live in exile in Lithuania, adapting to a new life while their parents struggle to rebuild everything from scratch.

Last summer, during a rare visit to a swimming pool, they were radiant — and now, as the cold season begins, they keep saying how much they miss that feeling of summer, water, and shared joy.

We want to make their simple wish come true — to give them one unforgettable day of joy, safety, and freedom at Vichy Aqua Park in Vilnius.

What we’re raising for:
We plan to bring 30 Belarusian refugee children for a full day at the park — swimming, playing, and enjoying the special group program that the water park is offering us.

Budget breakdown:

  • €35 for the whole day × 30 children — entrance, meals, and drinks: €1,050
  • Special group program by the water park: €120
  • Permission and fee to take our own photos (with volunteer photographers): €15
  • Support for accompanying adults (volunteers ensuring safety): €100

Every euro will go directly to creating this one day of joy — a day that reminds these children that they are safe, cared for, and allowed to be simply kids again.

Why it matters:
Behind every child is a story of loss, fear, and exile. But with your help, they can have a memory of laughter instead — a moment of warmth that helps them heal.

If we raise more:
If donations exceed our goal, we will invite more children. There are many Belarusian refugee families in Vilnius who cannot afford even the smallest celebration. Every additional €35 will allow one more child to join the trip, swim, laugh, and share this joyful day with others.
